DaySpark Launching it’s Pivot: Pay the Publisher!

DaySpark is embarking on a pivot of its business model after determining that user’s love the instant gratification they get in the discovery of video because they can pick and choose instead of blindly click through.  As a result, DaySpark will pay publishers to embed it’s Videobar (Video content widget) into their webpages.  Premium content providers will pay to have their videos put in front of premium audiences – all based upon the page embedded to “content-match” the page with the video.  It’s not rocket science to deliver video into widgets based upon the topic of a page.  That’s what content curation is about – hand-selecting what users want to view and what we are committed to.

Publisher Pilots Prove CTR Lift

DaySpark is conducting a number of publisher pilots to demonstrate the lift in video click thru rates, using the Videobar® technology that offers instant-play with hover instead of image thumbnails.  In addition to the quick, sneak-peek, users can view multiple video previews from a thumbnail version, versus a full-size preview experience.  This ease of use increases the CTR.  DaySpark expects adoption of its Videobar® technology since increased click thrus means more revenue.

Workflow

To keep it simple and low cost, DaySpark is automating the process from uploading a video, to optimizing through a re-encoding procedure in the background, to inserting it into image thumbnail locations in search or list results, whenever a video is available.  This means that any website with video content can quickly deploy video thumbnail creation at the same time a new video is added.  DaySpark simply watches your video folder, creates an image thumbnail, adds the click-thru link, and caption, to generate the thumbnail for an instant, play-in-place user experience.

Cost

The cost of producing a video thumbnail is small due to automation, and serving the video is low also due to a small file size.  Hosting of the video can occur on either DaySparks’ servers or the publisher’s servers.
